Walter Lynn Spain was the younger of two sons born to Linda Shaw and Paul Spain on April 19, 1966 at the historic Riverside Hospital in Houston, TX. He became affectionately known as “Coolee” to his family while growing up and lived in a variety of communities during that time: first Houston, where he was part of the original “Cosby Kids”; then Olivier, a small community outside of New Iberia, La, and finally Dallas, TX where he would live out the remainder of his life. His childhood experiences shaped the boy “Coolee” into the multi-faceted man “Walter Lynn” would become. After graduating from Hillcrest High School in Dallas, he moved to Denton to attend the University of North Texas where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He eventually married and from the union was born his one and only child, Kimberlyn Terrysa Spain, who was the light of his life. Walter first put his degree and talents to use as a business accounts manager for a prestigious plastic packing company, but his heart and passion was in the family food service business. He first learned the ropes of the chicken business through his uncle’s renowned Henderson Chicken chain. Later, Walter followed in the footsteps of his mother’s and stepfather, Rudolph Edwards’, long-standing career in private enterprise by becoming General Manager of the now infamous Rudy’s Chicken, a family owned establishment. Walter loved life and all it had to offer. He was an avid collector of Coca-Cola paraphernalia, a tinkerer of motors, a restorer of cars, a passionate cook, a competitor of ALL things competitive, and a patron of music and the arts. Amongst his favorite loves were his daughter, his mother, his biennial twin brother, and his prized little red 1966 Chevy truck. Ever the Humorist, Always the Sentimentalist, he was a child of God. Walter was preceded in death by his brother, Brad Nelson. He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Kimberlyn Spain of Denton, TX; mother and stepfather, Linda and Rudolph Edwards of Desoto, TX; father, Paul Spain of Missouri, TX; brother, Christopher James Spain of Mesquite, TX; brother, Dustin Alexander of Desoto; sister, Latiqua O’Neal of Missouri City, TX; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, a host of close cousins, other relatives, and intimate friends.
