WENDELL WHITAKER

September 24, 1972 — November 30, 2019

Wendell Whitaker, Jr. was born on September 24, 1972 in Fort Worth, TX to the proud parents of Mr. Wendell Whitaker, Sr. and Mrs. Alyce Whitaker. He graduated from Green B. Trimble Technical High School in Fort Worth and he furthered his education at Grambling State University and Tarrant County, College where he received his Associates Degree. Wendell, Bobo (as his friends and family lovingly called him), was raised in a Christian home where his parents taught him at a young age to love the Lord. He received his early spiritual growth at the Calvary Church of God in Christ under the Leadership of Supt. G. W. Pope. He received the Lord as his personal savior at the Power of God Church of God in Christ under his Father’s ministry. He continued his spiritual growth and maturity at the Power of God Church of God in Christ. He ministered through song under the anointing of the Lord, with a wonderful melodious voice, until a car accident rendered him unable to attend church. Wendell was employed at “A Better Answer” call center, doing what he loved to do… TALKING!! Bobo was a loving, caring and CRAZY individual!! He had a great personality and a sense of humor that was second to none. While he had no biological children of his own, he had several nieces, nephews and cousins that he mentored as if they were his own. On February 1, 2016, Wendell was in a tragic car accident where he had to be resuscitated twice before arriving at Joh Peter Smith Hospital. Once at JPS Hospital, he was in a coma for 30 days. On March 1, 2016, at the instruction of the Doctors, the family gathered to remove him from Life Support. The family continued to believe God for healing AND that night, GOD PERFORMED A MIRACLE! 15 minutes before taking him off Life Support, he opened his eyes and said “HI”! 3 ½ years later, on November 30, 2019, the Master called him home. Right now, Bobo is completely healed and singing with the angels. Preceding him in death, were his Sisters, Wendolyn Whitaker and Allison Whitaker Brooks. He leaves to cherish his memories, his Parents, Wendell and Alyce Whitaker, Sisters, Regina (Tim), Donna (Perry), Monica (David) and Brother Cedric Whitaker, Cousin/Sister/Best Friend Erica Strong and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and many many friends.
