With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we remember and honor the life of WESLEY JEFFERSON BRUMFIELD JR., affectionately known to many as “TROUBLE MAN" AKA LIL WES.” Born on September 20, 1990, in Hammond, Louisiana, Wesley brought light and spirit into this world—a light that continued to shine brightly until his passing in Dallas, Texas, on July 12, 2026.
Wesley was a man whose presence filled any room, whose laughter and unforgettable energy left indelible memories for those fortunate to know him. Growing up in Dallas "13030 IYKYK", his roots grounded him in strength and resilience—traits that became the hallmarks of his character. That same resilience carried him through life’s many trials and triumphs, always with his signature smile and sense of humor shining through even the toughest days.
Above all else, Wesley cherished family. He was the devoted son of LaToya Brumfield(Willie) and Wesley Kemp(Amina), who both survive him and will forever hold his memory close. Wesley took immense joy and pride in being a father. His sons—Ceddrian Brumfield, Elijah Brumfield, Masyn Rickett, and Karter Jackson—were his pride and joy, each a testament to his love, guidance, and unwavering dedication. He found meaning and comfort in his role as a brother to Tamanika Brumfield, Jeremiah Autry, Makeedah Kemp, Waylon Wilburn, Isaiah Kemp, Tayvon Wilburn, Amani Kemp, and Lamaya Carter. The bonds between Wesley and his siblings were forged in laughter, supported by loyalty, and sealed by countless shared moments.
His circle of love extended to his beloved aunties, Theresa Brumfield and Zontionetta Bagley, and to his cherished grandmother, Hilda Jackson, each of whom played invaluable roles in his life. Preceded in death by his grandfather, Eligah Brumfield, his uncle, also named Eligah Brumfield, his aunt Kasandra Kemp and his cousin, Courtney Brumfield.
Every chapter of Wesley’s life was written in bold strokes. He navigated his journey with courage and authenticity, bringing warmth to family gatherings, grounding wisdom to his friends, and an unforgettable spark wherever he went. Through struggles and joys, Wesley remained true to himself—“Trouble Man” not in mischief alone, but in his fearless approach to life and his refusal to let adversity dull his vibrant spirit.
His absence is profoundly felt, not only in the silence he leaves behind but in the countless lives he touched. Those who knew Wesley remember him for his generosity, quick wit, and his unwavering commitment to those he considered his own. A protector, a mentor, a loyal friend—Wesley wore every title with honor.
As we reflect on Wesley’s life, we pause to remember the legacy he leaves to his sons—a legacy of love, grit, and undying loyalty. His story is not one of loss alone, but of memories made, hearts joined, and lives forever changed by his presence.
To honor Wesley’s memory and celebrate his life, services will be held at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75224. A public viewing will take place on July 23, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a wake at the same location from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Though words cannot ease the pain of his passing, we find comfort in the memories, laughter, and love Wesley bestowed upon those who knew him. May his warm spirit and powerful legacy live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest in peace, WESLEY JEFFERSON BRUMFIELD JR.—your story remains forever cherished.
