William Roy Jenkins, lovingly known as Roy, passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 65. Born with a gift for music and a heart open to everyone he met, Roy lived a life full of laughter, connection, and purpose.
A proud graduate of the School of Performing Arts in New York City, Roy’s love for singing and playing the flute shaped his early years. He performed with multiple music groups, sharing his beautiful voice and joyful presence. His carefree spirit, infectious laugh, and ability to make a friend anywhere he went became his signature.
Roy also dedicated 19 honorable years to the United States Air Force, serving as a Life Support Technician, Medical Services Journeyman, and Lab Technician. His commitment and excellence earned him numerous distinctions, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, and the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star. He retired with the rank of Sergeant, leaving behind a legacy of service, discipline, and integrity.
Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Zena Marlene Wilson and his father, William Henry Jenkins.
He is survived by his sister, Zena Roberts; his brothers, Christopher Jenkins and William Jenkins; and his nieces, Sehar Knight, Nina Johnson, Carys Roberts, and Lyla Jenkins. He also leaves behind his beloved great‑nieces and great‑nephews—Myajah Johnson, Mila Johnson, Prince-Tahj Knight, Tacari-Lee Knight, Maveric Johnson, and Taraji Knight—as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who cherished him deeply.
Above all, Roy will be remembered for his huge heart, his beautiful singing voice, and the way he made every person feel seen, welcomed, and uplifted. His laughter, his warmth, and his music will echo in the memories of all who loved him.
