WYONIA P. CLAY, a beloved mother and cherished friend, peacefully departed this life on September 19, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on January 15, 1940, inerville, Texas, Wyonia lived a life enriched by her unyielding spirit and boundless warmth.
Wyonia dedicated her professional life as a Domestic and Legal Assistant, where her kindness and friendly nature shone through in all her interactions. She possessed an electric smile that could light up a room and a generosity of heart that made everyone feel welcome, never having met a stranger. Her commitment to prayer and her vibrant devotion made her a true prayer warrior; her spiritual strength was evident to all who knew her.
An alumna of Como High School, class of 1958, Wyonia carried the values of her education throughout her life. Her home, recently renovated, became a symbol of her love for family and the joy she found in creating a nurturing space for those she held dear.
Wyonia leaves behind her three devoted children: Sonyia Byrd, John L. Clay Jr., and Michael D. Clay Sr. Each of them carries forward her legacy, embodying the kindness, warmth, and strength that she imparted to them throughout their lives. They will forever treasure the memories of her laughter, her unwavering faith, and the lessons learned from a mother who taught them the importance of compassion and community.
The family remains forever touched by the presence of Reginald R. Clay, her son who has passed on, as they hold him in their hearts and memories during this time of mourning.
In honoring Wyonia’s life, her family invites friends and loved ones to gather in remembrance. A Prayer Service will be held at Johnson Chapel AME Church in Fort Worth on September 30, 2024, starting at 6:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church on October 1, 2024, at 12:00 PM.
