YOLANDA MARIE WASHINGTON ROSS

With heavy hearts and profound respect, we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Yolanda W. Ross, a lady whose vibrant spirit and unwavering zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Born on January 25, 1951, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her journey came to its close on May 11, 2026, in Dallas, Texas leaving behind a legacy overflowing with love, laughter, and firm determination.
Yolanda’s life was a tapestry woven with the threads of dedication, passion, and an unmistakable spark that brightened every room she entered. It was her candid personality guided by a good heart that truly defined her. Yolanda’s laughter was infectious, her stories captivating, and her presence often left a lasting impression.
Her journey was not without sorrows. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving Allen Washington, Daisy J. Hookfin and Jeffie Hookfin. Grandparents, Joe and Rener S. Johnson and Joe and Hazel W. Mitchell.
She was deeply family-oriented, a steadfast pillar of support, and a source of endless encouragement to her loving children: George (Khalisha) Lawless, Sr., William (Regina) Lawless, Sr., Regina, Gerard and Alisha Lawless and Chantell Young. Godchild, Kelvin Esteen. Bonus Daughters, Monica Sloan (Zakeyius) Simmons and Andrea Thomas. Devoted sisters: Jacquelin W. Cooper and La Rener Hookfin; beloved nephews Jeffie (Pamela) Jones, Jedidiah L. Washington and Drew J. Daniel; and an adored niece Alexis (Donovan) Daniel.
Yolanda’s spirit lives on vibrantly through a loving web of grandchildren: George G. Lawless, Jr., Tawine Matthews, Nai’Kest and Jaden Lawless, Coron Stephens, William Lawless, Jr., Antonia (Nicholas Sr.) Williams, Liondricka Robinson, Andre McThomas, Sr. Terrell, Sr. and Skyel Moore, Alisha, Anisha and Karter Lawless, Charles Hamilton, Chelcie Johnson, Zoe, Zier, Zven, Zalen and Zander Sloan-Simmons. Great Grandchildren: Sierra Lawless, Ebonie and Nicholas Jr. Williams, Andre McThomas, Jr., Terrell Moore Jr. and A’laya Hamilton. Special life-long friends, Grace White, Charles Stewart, Mary Hurst and Rosetta Deverney, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The community is invited on May 28, 2026, to a public viewing 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at New Mount Zion Baptist Church, Dr. Tommy L. Brown Pastor, 9550 Shepherd Rd., Dallas, Texas, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life so richly lived.
