BOBBIE BURSEY

BOBBIE JEAN SMITH BURSEY was born January 2, 1951 in Lisbon, Louisiana to Columbus Smith and Lessie B Gray Smith. Bobbie was the third daughter of eleven children born to this union. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Columbus Jr., John Ronald, and C. L. Smith and one beautiful daughter Samantha Christina Smith and Step-daughter Angela Bursey. Bobbie joined the Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, Lisbon, Louisiana at an early age. She received her education at Pineview High School and Grambling State University, where she was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She married the late Aubie Bursey on June 9, 1976 and to this union one son (Adam) was born and two other children which she received with open arms and raised them as her own. Bobbie relocated to Dallas, Texas where she continued her spiritual life membership at Homeland Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. T. R. McNealy Sr. There she served in many capacities, such as Choir member, headed the Youth Department, Sunday school teacher and member of missionary. She later united with the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. D. Smith, and continued working with the youths, singing in the choir and remained a faithful member until her death. Bobbie leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Adam (Shemekia) Bursey, of Seagoville, TX, Aubie (Carla) Anderson, of Mesquite, TX, four grandchildren, Eboni (Tyrone) Gray, of Balch Springs, TX, Shelmon Smith of Dallas, TX , Xhaiden Bursey of Seagoville, TX, Jacobi Bursey of Fresno, CA, four great-grandchildren, Tyce, Tatum, Trace and Emersyn Gray of Balch Springs, TX, five sisters, Essie Turner of Homer, LA, Wilma (Paul) Smith of Shreveport, LA, Diane (James) Irvin, Pamela Smith Berger of Mesquite, TX, Janette Smith of Plano, TX, two brothers, James Earl Smith of Dallas, TX and Perry Donald Smith of Homer, LA, one brother-in-law, Booker T (Carrie) Bursey, one sister-in-law, Alma Jones both of Dallas, TX. Two nieces that were always at her aide, Valerie Turner and Paula (Sha) Franklin and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
