BRENDIA WHITEHEAD

March 9, 1949 — June 28, 2020

Brendia Elizabeth Whitehead 71, of 2312 Marburg Street; Dallas, Texas, departed this life on Sunday, June 28, 2020.  She was born on March 9, 1949, to the late James Lester Barnette, Sr. and Florence "Daisy" Benjamin Barnette in York, South Carolina. In addition to her parents, Brendia was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Magdalene Matthews, and two brothers, Issac Lawrence Barnette and Willie Erving Barnette (Warlock).

Brendia received her education in the public schools of Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she graduated from Rock Hill High School and later attended York Technical College receiving a Certificate in Business. She joined the military October 1978.  After leaving the military in 1985, she worked at the Veterans Hospital, Dallas, Texas retiring after 30 years of service.

She accepted Christ at an early age.  She was a member of Langrum Branch Baptist Church, York, SC for a number of years. On November 2, 1984, Brendia was joined in holy matrimony to Willie of Forreston, Texas. She was a devoted member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She also served as the Sunday School  Church Secretary and minister of music Secretary. She enjoyed being around friends and family. She loved to read and do small crafts around the house.

Brendia leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband of  35 years, Willie Whitehead, of Dallas, Texas; four brothers, Solomon Benjamin of Harrisburg, PA; Joe (Patricia) Berry, James Lester (Alberta) Barnette, Jr., all of Rock Hill, SC; Hezekiah Barnette of Charlotte, NC; five sisters, Mary Helen (David) Gibson of Dallas, TX; Nancy J. Barnette, Hazeline Barnette, Jessie L. Barnette, all of St. Matthews, SC; Alber R. Barnette of Beaufort, SC; two brothers-in-law Randy Whitehead and Derrick Whitehead, one sister-in-law Pamela Black (Paul) all of Dallas, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
