DERL LANG

Derl Homer Lang, Jr. was born in Pass Christian, Mississippi on July 23, 1958 to the proud parents of Derl Homer Lang, Sr. and Lillie Mae Lang. He was baptized into the Catholic faith at an early age.  He attended Randolph Elementary and Pass Christian High School, where he excelled in track and field as well as football.  He received a football scholarship to Perkinston Jr. College.  Derl later played softball with the St. Stephens Men’s team and The Red Machine from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

Derl married the love of his life, Dianna Butler on April 4, 1991. He and his family resided in Gulfport, Mississippi and later relocated to DeSoto, Texas.  Derl was employed for 20+ years at Stennis Space Center in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi until he moved to DeSoto, Texas. He and his family joined the Community Missionary Baptist Church on January 12, 2003 under the leadership of Pastor Oscar D. Epps, Sr.   Upon arriving to DeSoto, Texas, he gained employment as a Material Management Technician with Dallas Area Rapid Transit and retired in December, 2020.  Derl loved spending time with his family.  He enjoyed watching TV, especially football and CNN.  His favorite westerns were: Once Upon A Time In The West, Hang’em High and Longmire. Derl was also a true fan of Game of Thrones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Derl,Sr. and Lillie Lang; one sister, Kenta Cecilia Lang.

Derl’s precious memories will be forever cherished in the hearts of: his devoted wife of 30 years, Dianna Lang; his children, Chanell (Hector) Milian, Danielle Barnes, Brad (Dyan) Cannon, Annie (Tyrone) Lewis-Lewis; Derl Lang III, Alicia (DeLunzo) Bartee, Felicia Lang, Chelsea Lang and Sydney Lang; his grandchildren, Jalynne Cook, Avah Lewis, Roland Lang, Zayvien Bartee, Dadrian Bartee, Imani Cannon, Andrue Cannon and Anthony Cannon; his siblings, Harold Antoine, Linda (Norman) Bradley, Roy (Florence) Lang, Gene Lang, Lisa Lang, April Thomas, Tracy (Douglas) Thigpen, Andre (Shantell) Lang, Arnold (Karen) DeDeaux, Patrick (Alta) Fredrick, Christine Hall and Julie Garrett;a special cousin whom was like a sister to him, Janet Bradley; his godchildren, Gabrielle Hawthorne and Justin Hawthorne; and a host of other loving relatives and friends
