ERROL BARRETT

February 12, 1939 — January 19, 2021

Errol Kenneth Barrett was born in Fort Worth, Texas to the parents of James and Ernestine Barrett on February 12, 1939. As a child he attended Clinton Avenue Elementary School and the Historic Milton L. Kirkpatrick High School and was in the first 1957 graduating class. On January 19, 2021 Errol was called into the eternal service of our Lord and Savior. Errol enlisted in the United States Army in 1958, and upon re-enlisting decided to make the military his career.  This proved to be a good decision as he progressed through the ranks to attain the rank of Major. Errol met, courted, and married Thomasine E. Hinton on March 30, 1962. To this union 2 children were born, Errol Jr. (deceased) and Gavin. Errol served two tours of duty in the Republic of Vietnam and was awarded Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign Medals. Errol and Thomasine lived in Federal Way, Washington a suburb of Seattle for 47 years.  Upon his military retirement in 1978, Errol like many retirees went to work for the United States Postal Service and after 23 years of service retired from that organization. Errol loved automobiles and, in his time, owned many that were unique, like most men loved sports and living in the Seattle area was a big Seahawks fan. However, that being said boxing was his favorite sport. Errol is survived by his wife of 58 years Thomasine; children, Gavin Sheldon Barrett, Michael E. Williams, Anthony M. Williams; siblings, Judy K. Hall, James (Jimmy) W. Barrett Jr., Phyllis A. Cox, Mark A. Barrett, Marcia L. Barrett, Michelle E. Grays, Michael R. Barrett; and a host of nieces, cousins and friends. Special recognition to niece, Kandy Hall; cousin Josh Lee and friend, Maurice Simpson !!
