James Floyd Grant was born on September 15, 1923 in Daingerfield, TX to the late Noah and Parlee Grant. To this union was six boys born. James accepted Christ at an early age. He and his brothers formed a quartet and would sing at revivals and churches. A story he loves to tell. His growing up was hard with little education, hardwork little or no money. Later in life, he married the love of his life, Betty Louise McKinney. They moved to Dallas, TX and overcame the adversity of life. To this union they had four children. James worked in construction and many years for Dixie Lead Plant. He united with New Leaf Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Johnny Russell.
James had many nicknames Nub, Chinney, Shorty, Gdad, Killa, everyone that came looking for him, he could be found sitting in front of his big window where he would wave. He loved watching Jerry Springer and Friday night wrestling. With a kind heart his life was long and he loved every minute of it with family, friends and everyone he know. He was loved by so many.
