Joe L. Parker departed this life to everlasting life on Friday July 16, 2021. Joe was born March 4, 1939, to the parentage of Rev. Robert Parker and Charlie Mae Peoples of Longview, Texas (both preceded in death). He attended school at Beckon Harris County. He accepted Christ at an early age and served as a deacon at Bethesda Missionary Baptist church for several years. He worked for J& J roofing for forty years and loved to drive the big trucks.
He was the eldest of four brothers: Henry Louis, James, Bobby (preceded in death) and Dennis; and three sisters: Mary Culbert, Juanita Johnson, and Beverly Gray (preceded in death).
He moved to Dallas, and married Rose Parker. Together, they raised five children. Those cherishing his memories, Wife: Rose Parker. Sons: Billy Thompson, Sr., Charles James (preceded in death), and James Reed. Daughters: Debra Parker, Sandra Parker (preceded in death) Carla Reed, and Carol Reed. 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He enjoyed watching football and westerns. Sometime he could be heard arguing with the television. He enjoyed his family. Joe was the example of manhood. He was a provider, a protector and the patriarch of the family. To know him was to respect him.
