JUANITA MARTIN

Juanita Louise (Thomas) Martin departed her loving family on January 4, 2022.

Juanita was born in Savannah, Georgia on January 5, 1940 to the Rev. Matthew and Lorena Thomas. She was the sixth child of eleven. She was preceded in death by her husband Lancer L. Martin, Sr., in 2014. Also her parents, and her six brothers Jeremiah Thomas, Henry Thomas, Matthew Thomas Jr., Lawrence Thomas and Bishop Isaiah Thomas and three sisters Elnora Amerson, Shirley Hudson and Leola Bowe.

Juanita was baptized at an early age. She was a member the St. John's Missionary Baptist in Salina KS and St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Bainbridge, GA. She was educated in the Savannah, GA School System and graduated in 1958. She retired after 35 years from Westinghouse in Salina, KS. After her retirement Juanita continued to work part time for USO 305, Salina, KS.

Juanita married her late husband Lancer Martin, Sr. in 1958. They were married for 55 years. Juanita was mother to Lancer Martin, Jr., and Timothy Martin. She raised her children with love and devotion in Salina KS. Juanita enjoyed traveling with her husband, trips to the casino, shopping at Dillard’s, and baking.

She is survived by her two sons, Lancer (Valerie) Martin of Arlington, Tx. Timothy (Bonnie) Martin, of Brainbridge, GA, special son Raymond (Anita) Kitchen of Arlington, TX., and a special daughter Tammy Toothman of Salina. Grandsons Will Martin of Atlanta, GA and Matthew Martin, Arlington, TX. Granddaughters Leslie Lewis of Arlington, TX, Kia Heard (Deion), Katria Reid (Shaun}, of Atlanta, GA and Jasmine Martin Arlington, TX. Great grandchildren Kalyn Odomes and Tony Lewis. One brother Everett (Marie) Thomas of St. Louis, MO and sister Betty Jean Miles of Savannah, Ga and two sisters-in-law, Arlene Prim and Rachel Holt Fikes of Salina, KS and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends. Special love and thanks to Allan, Tami, and Tiffanie Becker.

The family will receive visitors on January 14, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, 215 South Chicago, Salina, KS. The funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 11:00 am St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, Salina, KS the Rev. Dr. Allen D. Smith officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, 215 South Chicago, Salina, KS 67401in Juanita's name.
