KENNETH PRICE

June 19, 1958 — January 7, 2021

Kenneth James Price, 62, went to his heavenly home on January 7th, 2021 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Kenneth was born to the late Fortune and Venora Price on June 19th, 1958 in Douglas, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1977 where he excelled academically as well as in basketball and track and field. He was salutatorian of his graduating class and was awarded a full four-year scholar ship to Stephen. F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Ken decided to forgo college at that time and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served our country bravely from 1978 until 1995. He was able to travel the world through the military with tours of duty in Korea, England, and Japan. Additionally, he earned four degrees while he was in the service and retired a Master Sergeant. Upon retirement from the military, Ken went to work for the Federal Courts in the Northern District of Texas. He was a bailiff for the Honorable Sam Lindsay for several years as well as other Federal Judges. He retired from the Earl Cabell Federal Courts in 2016. Sometimes called a workaholic by his family and friends, Ken had a very strong work ethic that he undoubtedly inherited from his father. After retiring from the Court, Ken next embarked on his true calling and became a student of the gospel under the tutelage of Elder James Willis of the Solid Rock Family Church in Duncanville. Ken was very active at Solid Rock Family Church where he often led prayer and devotion. He also participated in community outreach. He proudly preached his first sermon in March of 2019. Ken became a full minister of the gospel in January of 2020 and received his license from the Church of God in Christ signed by the Bishop on January 5th. Ken loved the Lord passionately and never hesitated to spread the Good News wherever he went. He would often engage with people at Costco, Kroger, and at numerous Downtown homeless shelters. His mother, Venora Price always told him that he was destined to preach one day. It gives our family comfort that he did indeed accept his true calling and became a minister of the gospel. Kenneth’s strong faith in God never wavered and even when his health condition worsened. He still trusted God and encouraged his family and friends to do the same. Kenneth touched many lives and he will be dearly missed. We take solace in knowing that he is free from pain and is now in that Great Cloud of Witnesses smiling down wishing us all well until we see him again. Kenneth leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Yumi Price and daughter, Hannah Price of Desoto, TX. Siblings: John (Gudrun) Price of Lawton, OK; Catheryn Rose of Desoto, TX; Aaron Price of Clarksville, TN; Cathy (Billie) Watkins of San Antonio, TX; Velma Blackmon of Desoto, TX; Cheryl Price of Lancaster, TX; Uncle: James (Gladys) Bagley of Fort Polk, LA; A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kenneth was preceded in death by his brothers, Welton, David, and Samuel Price.
