LINITA SHANNON

May 23, 1960 — June 10, 2021

Today, we celebrate and honor the life of Linita MaShon Shannon, a  loving sister, aunt, and friend. She was born to the late Willie Ruth Sanders and Claude Johnson, Jr. on May 23, 1960 in Dallas, Texas. She attended John Neely Bryan Elementary School, D.A. Hulcy Middle School and David W. Carter High School in Dallas, TX. She also completed coursework at Dallas College-Mountain View Campus, University of Texas at Dallas, and DeVry Institute. Linita worked at Rockwall International and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), where she retired from on December 15, 2020 after serving for 33 years.

Linita began her Christian journey at Allen Chapel Baptist Church. She later became a member of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the Sunday School secretary and in the choir. She later joined Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a devoted Christian. Linita was known for her generosity, loving spirit and as a vivacious, passionate and devoted lady among her family and friends. She was a hard worker and a good problem solver. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and going to the casinos where she was very blessed. Like all other tasks, she was a master at the casinos. She also enjoyed cheating at card games with her mother. Her conversations ranged from witty humor to candid advice of wisdom. Linita found eternal rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 10, 2021.

Linita was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Ruth Sanders, and her father, Claude Johnson, Jr. She leaves behind a legacy of love and grace to cherish her memory: her sisters, Cassandra (Larry) Nealy, Pamela (James “Pepper”) Ayers, Rhonda Sanders, Sheila Gillespie and Toni Johnson; her brothers, Eric (Kimberly) Sanders, William (Teresa) Sanders, and Marcus Jackson; a very special brother, Delvin Alberty; and a very special friend, David James; her uncle, Charlie (Ruby) Shannon, Jr., her nieces and nephews, Ambra (Jessie) Lewis, Brandon (Chasley) Shannon, Monique Ayers, Domonique Ayers, Michael Gray, Chaela Adams and Makenzie Gray; her great nephews, Deante’, Zhane, Chaidon, Zavier, and Chance, and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
