MORRIS CURLEE

October 30, 1930 — November 5, 2019

FORT WORTH, Texas – Morris Ervin Curlee, Sr., a longtime Dallas/Fort Worth resident who attended the United States Military Academy West Point in New York, and later became one of Dallas’ top car salesman for over 20+ years before retirement, has died. He was 89.

Curlee died Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in hospice care at Heritage House of Keller in Keller, Texas, after a lengthy illness.

Curlee was born October 30, 1930 in Montgomery, Alabama.  He journeyed with his parents, Henry and Lucille Curlee to Arcadia, Louisiana where he graduated high school in 1948 from Bienville Parish Training School (BPTS), that later became Crawford High School.

An intellectual and charismatic young man entered Basic Training in the Army at Ft. Knox, Kentucky in 1948. He later attended the renown United States Military Academy West Point in New York through 1952, during the Korean War and received a Good Conduct Medal. After leaving the military, Curlee attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana.

He met his former wife, Ella Joyce Jackson, a teacher and school administrator from Monroe, Louisiana.They married in 1966 and settled in Dallas, Texas. To this union, their only son, Morris Ervin Curlee, Jr. was born.

Curlee is survived by one son, Morris Ervin Curlee, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas (Cassina); granddaughter, Christina Joycella Curlee of Los Angeles, California; brother, Bobby James Curlee of The Colony, Texas; and sister, Vertis Marie Curlee Shyne (Joe) of Shreveport, Louisiana.
