ROBERT LEE

December 21, 1950 — June 6, 2021

On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Robert Earl Lee, devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away at age 70.

Robert was born on December 21, 1950 in Dallas, Texas to Robert and Carrie (Coaston) Lee. He was a product of the Dallas ISD public school system. Robert began his construction career at Henry C. Beck Construction Company as he had inspirations of being promoted into a better position. He was promoted and made history by becoming the first black Foreman at Dal-Mac Construction. He retired from Dal-Mac after providing 25 years of service.

Robert Lee met Johnnie Potts in 1978, in which, they raised Roderick Lee (deceased) and Ramone Lee. Ten years into their marriage, they added another son Jonathan Lee. The sons did not end there, they later added Dexter Holmes and Patrick Mitchell to the family.

Robert and Johnnie also created a home for several friends and family; therefore, creating a large extended family. Robert and Johnnie shared 44 years of life together. He taught his sons the meaning of being a man, different skills to survive the ways of the world, and how to create financial freedom. They were a package deal as they worked together, race together, worked on cars together, and enjoyed family time together.

Robert had a passion for cooking, racing, family, being an entrepreneur, gardening, working on cars, and building anything needed (residential or commercial). His zest for entrepreneurship led him to start Westside Racing, his own record label (Executive Records), recording studio (The Executive), Westside Barbecue, and Remodeling with Robert. He proved that you can do anything you want when you set your mind to it. Robert’s favorite saying was, “In God, we trust!!”

Robert and Johnnie (spouse) captured many memories, completed several goals, raised kids, and ran successful businesses. They dedicated themselves to each other and it was apparent by observing them together. They kept God as the leader of their marriage, family, home, and life. This truly defined, shaped, and helped them work as one in their marriage.

Robert is preceded in death by his father (Robert Lee), mother (Carrie Lee (Coaston)), son (Roderick Lee), two sisters (Barbara Lee and Annie Ross) and brother (Jimmy Lee).

Precious memories of Robert will be forever cherished in the hearts of:  his wife (Johnnie Lee), sons (Ramone Lee, Jonathan Lee, Patrick Mitchell, and Dexter Holmes), two sisters (Dorothy Dorman and Patricia Ingram), two brothers (Roy Lee (Katherine) and James Lee (Francis)), host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other loving relatives.
