SITHI YALONG

August 30, 1955 — March 26, 2020

Sithi “Kong” Yalong, 64, passed away on Thursday, March 26th, 2020. Born August 30th, 1955 in Pursat, Cambodia, he was the youngest of Mr. and Mrs. Dong Kim’s eleven children. He
graduated from Royal University of Phnom Penh in 1973. To honor his family he joined a Buddhist Temple and became an ordained monk from 1973-1975 until the Khmer Rouge destroyed his temple of residency. He fled from Cambodia, to Thailand, to Philippines, before arriving in Houston, TX in 1982 as a refugee in America. Upon arrival, he started working at American Airlines. Once comfortable, he began to inquire about any family and friends he had in the United States. He found his childhood love, Kim Long Hou, whom he married on July 7th,
1984 and together they raised two daughters. He became a proud United States citizen in 1999. He worked for Dart Container for 18 years, retired in 2018, and enjoyed one and half
years of retired life. He spent his free time gardening, watching sports, volunteering at the Cambodian Buddhist Temple, and traveling. His greatest accomplishments include providing for
his family, instilling his daughters with good morals and values, and putting both children through college because he valued higher education. He truly believed that if you worked hard and
treated people right, you could have a good life with a little luck from God. Everything he did was for his family.

Sithi is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kim Long Yalong; daughter Lardy Carrocci and husband Paul, daughter Liva Yalong and sister Sath Kim.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
