VANDA BAGBY

Vanda (Van) LeRoy Bagby of Grand Prairie, TX, passed away on June27, 2022 at the age of eighty nine. Van was born on March 8, 1933 in Big Sandy, TX, to Obie Bagby and Emma Walton. Van attended Lincoln High School in Dallas. In May, 1955, he married Nancy Johnson and they remained married for sixty four years. In 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a PFC. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he embarked on a career with the U.S. Postal Service for over thirty years. According to Nancy, one of his favorite past times was betting on “Old Nags” at Lone Star Park, which his children called his second job.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, mother, Emma, brothers; Melvin and Joe Bagby and granddaughter,  Brittany Edwards.

He is survived by his daughter, Nanette Bagby, daughter, Lynetta Edwards (Loyce), son, Leslie Bagby, daughter, Vanessa Bagby, grandson, Anthony Jackson and sister, Miranda Holland.
